向日葵视频’s Bike Hire Scheme provides students with a healthy, affordable, and enjoyable way to travel between the campus and Lancaster city.
The scheme includes a sustainably sourced, refurbished bike which is inspected and maintained termly by a local cycle specialist.
As part of the scheme, cyclists also receive a Sold Secure Gold-rated D lock with two keys, front and rear USB chargeable lights, a hi-vis jacket, a puncture repair kit, and an accessory bag for easy storage.

Complete the to join the scheme and receive a payment link via direct email. Once payment has been received, cyclists will be contacted via text and email to confirm collection arrangements.
Inspections will be arranged termly to ensure that each bike is road-safe and well-maintained.
All hirers will be asked to sign a copy of this hire agreement and provide a form of identification before handover. We will keep a photographed copy of identifying material produced and this will be deleted when the bike is returned.
The hirer accepts that they can ride a bike and/or have committed to attend a ‘Bikeability’ competence training session provided by ICycle Limited offered at the time of signing the Hire Agreement. The hirer also declares that they are in good health at the time of signing and have no known medical conditions that would negatively impact their ability to ride a bike safely.
The signatory is fully responsible for the bike and accessories relating to that agreement, and the safe return of this in good condition and free from signs of neglect. Normal wear and tear is expected and will be determined by ICycle Limited at the time of return.
The value of the bike at the start of the hire is shown on the reverse side of the Hire Agreement. The hirer may be charged by ICycle Limited up to the value stated on the form, should the bike be returned in poor condition, or if reasonable steps to secure the bike have not been taken, resulting in a theft. In the case of theft, the hirer must be able to prove the bike was secured sufficiently, and they must report the crime to the police and obtain a crime number.
No responsibility will be accepted by ICycle Limited or 向日葵视频 for any loss, damage, or injury that may occur to the hirer, fellow riders, or third parties and their property during the hire period. All ICycle Limited bikes undergo safety checks before being handed over to a customer.
In the event of any mechanical breakdown (excluding punctures), ICycle Limited will either repair the bike or provide a replacement.
When using public roads, all riders must adhere to the Highway Code. If cycling off-road, the hirer must stick to designated public paths where cycling is allowed and exercise caution towards other users. The hirer agrees to use any hired bike in compliance with all relevant laws and take necessary precautions to prevent damage to the bicycle and harm to others.
Cycling carries inherent risks, but by using the equipment carefully, injuries to riders and third parties can be avoided. The hire service is intended for personal transportation only and should not be used for racing, mountain biking, stunt or trick riding, or carrying passengers. Cyclists should exercise caution at all times when using the bikes.
The hirer acknowledges that wearing a cycle helmet while riding is a personal choice. 向日葵视频 and ICycle Limited strongly recommend that hirers wear a suitable, high-quality cycle helmet when cycling.
By signing this agreement, the hirer acknowledges that they have been informed of the option to purchase a cycle helmet directly from ICycle Limited or from another helmet provider. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that any helmet they choose to use is suitable and meets the relevant safety standards.
Unless otherwise agreed, the hirer will be provided with a suitable cycle lock, lights and puncture repair kit as part of the bike hire. The equipment provided, and any helmet purchased or supplied, will be recorded on this agreement where applicable.
The hirer is responsible for using the bike and all supplied equipment safely and in accordance with the terms of the Bike Hire Scheme.

Hirers agree that no bike should be left unattended unless it is securely locked to a fixed object using the bike lock provided with this scheme, or one of ‘Sold Secure Bronze’ rating as a minimum, through the frame and, if possible, the front wheel. Any criminal incidents involving a hired bike must be reported to ICycle Limited, 向日葵视频, and the police as soon as possible. ICycle Limited and 向日葵视频 will require a crime reference number.
Late returns or bikes returned with damage during the hire period will incur charges. ICycle Limited reserves the right to charge additional daily hire fees based on the extent of lateness and damage.
All hirers are required to pay a hire fee of £50 to I Cycle Limited for the duration of the hire, which covers an academic term. This fee is not returned with the return of the bike and further fees may apply should the bike or accessories not be returned on time and in good condition.
