Professor Michael Greaney

Michael's research focuses on literature, especially fiction, from 1800 to the present. He is the author of Conrad, Language, and Narrative (Cambridge University Press, 2002), Contemporary Fiction and the Uses of Theory (Palgrave, 2006), Sleep and the Novel (Palgrave, 2018) and An A-Z of Jane Austen (Bloomsbury, 2022), and co-author, with Catherine Coveney, Eric Hsu, Rob Meadows and Simon Williams, of Technosleep: Fictions, Frontiers, Futures (Palgrave, 2023). His research has appeared in Contemporary Literature, English, Essays in Criticism, Nineteenth-Century Literature, Studies in English Literature and Studies in the Novel. He is currently working on manhunt narratives in nineteenth-century British fiction.
